The intention of our invitation is to celebrate life, love, and friendship through dance and music. The Festival light motive is to present the cultural tradition of different countries and regions and to provide an opportunity for the members of groups to get together and create long-lasting friendships.

The International Folk Dance Festival “Emerald Island” is a non-competitive festival of traditional and modern dances. At the festival may participate in children and youth folklore dance groups, modern dance groups, vocal groups, instrumental groups, choirs, as well as groups and performers from other art styles. The age of participants is not limited.

During the Festival each Group will have 3 performances which will be organized around the island with a short defile at the beginning. According to the number of participants, the minutes of the performance will be defined. Groups can perform either with live music or CD. The performances will be in the evening hours so you can plan the day ahead and use it for visiting the historical part of the island, excursions, or simply enjoying on the beach.

At the end of the Festival, after the show, the Groups have a gift exchange and receiving certificates. Each group should bring the flag and sign of their country.

Festival Program:

1st day - 19.09.
12:00-Arrival and accommodation of the groups at the hotel
20:00-Meeting with FFA representative and short description of the festival program (2 leaders per group max)

2nd day  - 20.09.
10:30-FFA Zumba
19:15-Parade
19:30-Concert & Party (Depending of the number of the groups we will let you know about the minutes of your performance.)

3rd day - 21.09.
10:00-Free time
16:00-Visit of St. Archangel Monastery
19:00-Parade
19:30-Concert (Depending of the number of the groups we will let you know about the minutes of your performance.)

4th day - 22.09.
10:00-Free Time - Excursion Day

5th day - 23.09.
10:00-Free Time - Excursion Day
19:30-Concert & Diploma Rewarding (Depending of the number of the groups we will let you know about the minutes of your performance.)

6th day - 24.09.

Detailed Festival Program will be given to you 1 month before the start of the festival.

The groups should pay the travel expenses by themselves to Thassos and back.

The groups coming by bus should use their own transport all the time during the festival and the small journeys and excursions around the city. The Festival Organization will cover the expenses for the ferry boat from Keramoti to Limenas (Thassos).

The groups coming by plane should organize transportation from their country to the airport (Kavala / Thessaloniki) and back. The cost of transportation from the airport to the hotel will be covered by the group and will be additionally agreed upon according to their number.

The organizer reserves the right to any changes in the program, and the participants will be informed on time. By applying you confirm that you accept all festival conditions!
