Ohrid - Balkan Jerusalem!
Ohrid an immortal town, a magical hill that links ancient and modern times forever. Ohrid has been a living town for 2400 years, notable for having 365 churches, one for each day of the year. Today Ohrid is a cultural, spiritual, and tourist center. Together with Lake Ohrid has been named a world cultural and natural heritage listed city under the protection of UNESCO since 1980. Feel Ohrid for once in your life and you already know why you will return and why it simply cannot be retold.
St. Naum, one of the most beautiful monasteries in Macedonia and an important pilgrimage place. Breathtaking setting on a plateau over Ohrid Lake and Galicica mountain towering from behind. It was founded in 910 by St.Naum, but the present-day church was built in the 16th c.
During your free time the Organizer will organize:
excursion with a guide to the historical old part of Ohrid to visit the most famous ancient churches, basilicas, and monasteries where Saints Kliment and Naum (students of Cyril and Methodus) wrote their teachings and formulated the Cyrillic alphabet
Boat Trip to St. Naum, a full day boat trip from Ohrid to St. Naum (lunch packet on Boat)
The accommodation of the participants is in Hotels in Struga and Ohrid very close to the beach. The Groups will be accommodated in rooms with 3 beds and 4 beds on a full board basis. Only 3 double rooms are available per group which can be used for the Leaders and drivers.
The festival fee is 99 euros per person for basic category hotels and 125 euros for advanced category hotels. It covers organizational expenses, accommodation in a hotel for 4 nights with 3 meals per day. For every 20 participants, the 21st member is free of charge.
If the group shows interest in extending the stay the organizers should be informed during the application process (for full board accommodation the price is 25 euro per person per day for basic category hotel and 30 euro for advanced category hotel).

The intention of our invitation is to celebrate life, love, and friendship through dance and music. The Festival's light motive is to present the cultural tradition of different countries and regions and to provide an opportunity for the members of groups to get together and create long-lasting friendships.
The International Folk and Dance Festival “Ohrid Waves” is a non-competitive sample of traditional and modern dances and music performed by folkloric groups.
At the festival may participate in children and youth folklore dance groups, modern dance groups, vocal groups, instrumental groups, and choirs, as well as groups and performers from other art styles. The age of participants is not limited.
During the Festival each Group will have at least two performances in Ohrid and its area according to the program of the Festival. According to the number of participants, we will let you know about the minutes of your performance. The performances will be in the evening hours so you can plan the day ahead and use it for visiting the historical part of the city, excursions, or simply enjoying the beach.

1. Sightseeing of the old part of the city Ohrid
Ohrid Roman Amphitheater - Build around 200 BC, just over 2000 years old. Today is used during the Ohrid Summer Festival for performances of ancient tragedies and comedies.
Samuil’s Fortress - dated from 4th century B.C., Samuel’s fortress consumes the city’s skyline with walls 3 km long and 16 meters high. With its strategic location, overlooking the town and the lake, it provides an ideal place for taking in the whole panorama of Ohrid and its surroundings.
St. Pantelejmon (Plaosnik) – dedicated to St. Clement and St. Pantelejmon it stands next to the ruins of the original St Clement´s monastery school at Plaosnik.
St. John Kaneo – it is not certain when it was built and fresco painted. St. John Kaneo church is most known for its scenic location, standing on a cliff over Lake Ohrid.
2. Boat trip (Ohrid – St. Naum – Ohrid)
Lake Ohrid – one of Europe’s deepest and according to most experts the oldest lake in Europe. The importance of the lake was further emphasized when it was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1979.
St. Naum Monastery – one of the most beautiful monasteries in Macedonia and an important pilgrimage place founded in 910 by St.Naum. Among the local people, there is a belief that the place is holy and sacred and that the ghost of St. Naum helps couples who have problems with having their own children.
3. Sightseeing of the springs in village Vevcani
Vevcani (Vevchani) is one of the most authentic and naturally beautiful villages in Macedonia. It’s situated in the southwestern part of Macedonia, in a valley on Jablanica Mountain 800 meters above sea level.
4. The City of Consuls Tour – 1 day Bitola
By visiting Bitola, you will have the opportunity to visit Heraclea Lyncestis with the beautiful well-preserved floor mosaics, fine examples of the early Christian Art period, you will enjoy the mixture of Ottoman, neoclassical 19th-century romantic architecture.
Finally, don’t miss out on Bitola as it is honored for its café culture, the pedestrian Shirok Sokak lined with nice colorful romantic and neoclassical buildings almost of all of them housing a café is a place to see and be seen!
