International Festival of Dance and Songs
International Folklore Festival in Ljubljana
Ljubljana, Slovenia
05 June - 07 June
Overview
Ljubljana is the green capital of a green country. The image of the city along the river with picturesque
bridges and the open market was designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik. The city with thousands of events is surrounded by parks and protected natural areas. Romantic and rich in history, lively and full of
attractions, Ljubljana is a city that surprises and captivates visitors. With its magnificent landscapes,
extraordinary architecture, rich cultural heritage (the result of exchanges and contamination), the cheerful
and relaxed atmosphere, it is very soon made to love it.
And it's not hard to discover its treasures, all at your fingertips, reachable with a walk or a nice ride. On the
hill, the severe bulk of the castle dominates from above the city lying on the river Ljubljanica (worthy of a
boat ride), the historic center preserves the major monuments and the most interesting sites, the beautiful museums and the galleries celebrate the art of highest levels, the city market is a concentration of history and traditions of the Ljubljana people. Each district retains its historical imprint: medieval, baroque or liberty, although the whole city is" marked" by the incredible works of the brilliant architect and urban planner Jože Plečnik, who was entrusted from the Twenties to the beginning of the Second World War. the task of redesigning the city by adapting it to its tastes. Bridges are a characteristic feature of the Slovenian capital. Many cross the Ljubljanica and offer suggestive views, beautiful to photograph or simply admire.
Pleasant cafes and clubs fill the riverfront where, especially at night, the atmosphere is filled with magic. So many reasons to visit Ljubljana.
